SIA On-Site: Close Collaboration in Designing the Future, Respecting the Past
Step behind the scenes of CC31 Cantonment Station in this curated site visit brought to you by the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) and the Land Transport Authority (LTA). Participants will join an open dialogue with RDC Architects as Project Architect, AECOM as Lead Engineer, and LTA Architects to gain insight into the thought processes, design decisions, technical coordination and multidisciplinary collaboration involved in delivering a modern MRT station. LTA's close involvement in the design through construction process has been instrumental in bringing this collaboration to life — a partnership that also lays the groundwork for transforming the Keppel Port area into a vibrant waterfront district after 2030.
About the project
The Circle Line Stage 6 (CCL6) is a 4km extension that completes the loop by linking HarbourFront MRT to Marina Bay MRT. This event will be co-hosted by RDC Architects Pte Ltd, AECOM and LTA. In addition to the guided site visit to CC31 Cantonment Station, the programme will include a presentation showcasing the three new underground stations—Keppel (CC30), Cantonment (CC31), and Prince Edward Road (CC32)—each featuring a distinct architectural identity.
Situated along Spottiswoode Park Road, Cantonment Station serves the historic Tanjong Pagar district, enhancing connectivity for residents, workers, and visitors to the surrounding heritage sites. At 28 metres deep, the station is accessible via four entrances, linking to Tanjong Pagar Distripark (Singapore Art Museum), Spottiswoode Park Estate, Everton Road, and the rejuvenated Tanjong Pagar Railway Station upon its completion. The station celebrates the rich heritage of the connecting national monument by blending the old with the new, offering a unique experience to both commuters and visitors.
